Sources and rating methodology
Five colours as guidance for touring and outdoor activities.
What the numbers mean
Temperature and rain classes are qualitative editorial assessments from 1 to 5, not measurements. The scale runs from Poor (1) to Perfect (5). “Perfect” means a favourable seasonal window for the stated focus.
Data status and evidence quality
36 of the 238 destinations have been checked against regional sources. 202 destinations use broader climate approximations. No globally uniform climate normals or monthly temperature/rainfall series have been imported. Complete country coverage does not mean complete local data validation.
Limitations
- Elevation, coastal exposure and itinerary can change conditions considerably.
- Winter sports, diving and wildlife watching may have different ideal seasons.
- Monsoon onset, El Niño, extreme weather and future climate changes are not predicted. A cyclone season does not predict a storm on a specific day.
- No assessment of current safety or travel costs.
